Yesterday, all day long I was suffering from a head ache and congestion. It seemed a little too severe to be allergies, but I was not sure if I was sick or not. By mid afternoon, my left eye felt odd and watery......but I was still thinking it was probably allergies or a head cold at this point. By 6 pm my eye was worse, oozing puss and red. James came home, took one look at me and proclaimed “we need to get you to a doctor!” We searched for an urgent care office that had evening hours, but had no luck. I figured I could survive until morning, so I went to bed early and tried not to infect my family.
This morning, when I got up, my eye was glued shut. I found my way to the bathroom and started the hot water running. When I looked in the mirror, it was a like a horror movie. My eye was VERY swollen, (think baseball) red and glued shut. It took 10 minutes of a warm wash cloth compress to unglue my eye completely. It hurt too…….gave me a headache and made my depth perception off.

I dropped Alli off with Julia and Elissa and headed to the Boone Convenience Care office at 8 when they opened. (My regular doctor does not keep office hours on Friday.) Once there, I waited an hour and a half to see the doctor who kindly faxed my prescription off to the pharmacy. On the way to the pharmacy, I picked up Alli and by the time we got to D&H, they still had not filled my prescription so we walked around the store and looked at the stuffed toys and trinkets. Alli was really good and it was kind of fun to see all the stuff in the store. After I got my prescription, I raced home and put drops in my eye. Almost immediately, I could see an improvement. The quantity of goo my eye was generating slowed down and I felt a little less awful. (Still looked awful though)
By now it was almost lunch time, so Alli and I had lunch and then she went down for her nap. I lounged on the couch watching junky day time TV. I dozed off a bit and it was nice to just rest and pamper myself a little. At 3, Alli had not woken up yet, so I went in to wake her. I found her lying sprawled out on her tummy, still sound asleep. Babies are so darn cute when they are sleeping. I made a little noise and she started to stir. She is usually not a good napper, so I was thrilled that she had gotten such a good rest in. James came home about then and all three of us goofed off the rest of the day.
