Saturday morning, I met Terry for our 6 am long run. This week we did 8.6 miles. It was nice outside, so while we were jogging, James and Alli played on, not one, but two down town play grounds. After the run, I rushed home, ate breakfast, took a shower and gathered up Zoe and headed to her 10 am basketball game. The game was so much fun; Zoe’s team, the Vipers, won by 30+ points. Alli, was super good and watched the game, shouted “ball”, clapped when the crowd did and climbed all over the bleachers. I really did get to watch the game because Alli was just so good. Zoe made several heroic shots, but it was in the last seconds of the game she finally sunk one.
James and I spent Saturday afternoon doing more yard work. We cut down some more Cedar trees and started clearing and planning a new location for the fire circle. When I bought the house, I created an area in front of the hunting cabin for us to make fires and camp out. I assumed the cabin would be handy to have at the fire location and the area was fairly clear. Well, the cabin had a dirt floor and we never used it for anything and the clearing in front of the cabin was not level, so while you were roasting your marshmallow’s your chair would be tipping and you would be worried you might fall over.
The new spot is above the old cabin location. It is pretty level, has fewer trees to catch on fire and it is closer to the house (i.e. the bathroom and the refrigerator). There are also a few big flat rocks in the area that are fun to sit on and I am hoping they will come in handy. We are going to make a new fire pit and get a picnic table and make log seating as well. Hopefully, I can commission Grandpa Gene to make us some yard art to decorate the area with. We must get it all fixed up by the end of May so Zoƫ can have her birthday party there, which is the custom.
While we were outside, enjoying the weather, I gave Alli an orange to snack on. I peeled it outside and just pitched the peels onto the ground. After Alli had finished her orange, she then found a rind on the ground, picked it up and proceeded to eat it. When James or I told her not to eat it, she was very upset. I rushed in the house and got her another orange and peeled it for her and she happily ate it all. Then, she was right back on the ground trying to eat the rind. She really could not comprehend why we did not want her to eat it. It was cute and funny. Alli will eat the strangest things and love them, like cooked cabbage, lemons and orange peels, but she won’t eat green beans, carrots or corn……….all things you would expect a kid to like. Right now, fruit is her favorite; she will eat just about any fruit all day long if you would let her.
My apologies, I neglected to take a single photo all day.
