An average weekend at home.
Friday night, Zoe came over and we all ate pizza and watched Six Feet Under. Zoe took some photos of Alli in her new outfit that Grandma and Grandpa Kaufman bought her.

Saturday morning I met Terry for our weekend run. We did 7.5 miles. I was pleasantly surprised at how well my run went. I have not been doing any consistent workouts lately mainly due to the 10 degree winter weather, but also because the closest gym location closed, so driving to the gym now takes about 20 minutes each way. A good run is a great way to start the day. Bonus, my new shoes worked great too.
At 11am Zoe had her first CYBA basketball game of the season. This year, they put all the girls in grades 8-12 together, so all of the girls on her team are older than she is. Our team lost but it was really fun to watch and Alli behaved remarkably well (always a bonus). It was weird to see most of her team mates drive themselves home after the game.
Saturday afternoon, the sun was out and the world warmed up nicely so we took Alli outside to walk around on our property. She loves to go outside. She worked hard walking through areas of deep leaves and even got poked in the eye by a mean old cedar tree. I really enjoy watching her explore the world and get distracted by the littlest things. She pulls on sticks and feels leaves and is thrilled when a neighbor cat stops to say “hi”. Eventually, she got tired of walking and stood and pleaded with her Daddy, her little arms stretched towards him in the air, so he would pick her up and carry her back to the house........which he did.
Daddy has promised to clean out a lot of the scruffy little trees and make the area easier to play in and look much nicer. We also have plans to get some guineas to help with the bugs and snakes and stuff. Spring is going to be a lot of fun and a lot more work.
Speaking of walking, our little Alli figured out she can walk backwards. At some point this weekend she just started walking backwards across the kitchen floor. She verbalized her pleasure, so we would take note and we praised her for her new found skill. She did it again later, still tickled with herself for figuring out a new trick.
Sunday morning, James went to the gym and I did some chores and watched the CBS Sunday morning show. It was their 30 year anniversary and I really enjoyed it. I love their sun logo and all of the sun picture art too.
Sunday at noon, James and Alli went for a jog while I did my BodyPump class. After that, we went shopping and finally got our HDTV converter box. Amazingly, we get more channels than ever. We now get three PBS channels. This is great!! Alli had to help us install the converter box.

Alli heralds in our conversion to HDTV
While we enjoyed a simple, relaxing weekend at home, my old friend Mike VanBooven and his family have been displaced from their home due to the ice storm in Kentucky. They have no power and may not get power for many more weeks. We are keeping them in our thoughts.
