An Average Wednesday
Get up at 4:30 unless James hits snooze a few times. Drink coffee and watch the news a little. Clean my car out……..no bottles in the house means they must be in my car….I hope. Good thing I clean out the car…..found some raw shrimp I forgot about (don’t ask). Feed Alli breakfast and get her dressed for the day. Get myself dressed and ready to go. Make sure the dog goes potty before leaving her in the house for the day since it is only 6 degrees outside. Pack items needed for Alli and myself for the day, fresh fruit, bottle, etc. Be sure to pack her swim stuff….towel, swim suit, swimmy diapers, jammies and slippers for post swim drive home. Remind Da-da he needs a suit and towel. Leave for work by 7:30. Drop movie off at Blockbuster on the way to work. Once we get to work feed Alli a banana and unpack her books for her to read. Work, work, work, change diaper, work, work, work, change diaper, feed Alli, change diaper, work, work, work. Leave work at 3:15. Call Zoe to remind her AGAIN to be ready when I get there. Remind her to be ready for Basketball practice too. Tell her to grab form that Malcolm needs to turn in later at his church meeting. Pick Zoe up at her house around 3:25. Quiz her before we leave the driveway. “Do you have basketball shoes? Did you brush your teeth? Where are the forms?” Ok, she seems to be ready. Drive to orthodontist appointment on the far side of town and there is no “good way” to get there. Construction on Rangeline makes the drive even more convoluted and time consuming. 3:50 Zoe sees the orthodontist while I entertain Alli-Bean in the waiting room. Alli climbs all over the bench seat and flirts with the girls at the desk. She has fun and gets time out of the car seat which is good. I work on filling out Malcolm’s forms and then realize this is not the right form. I will need to go back and get it (shoot, more driving in circles!!!!). Next we are off to drop Zoe at Basketball practice at the ARC. I realize I have no cash to pay for her day pass, so I stop at the ATM on the way. When we get there, I have to go in to pay so I have to get Alli out of the car and take her with. The parking lot is packed and I wonder how so many people have time to go to the ARC at 4 in the afternoon. Once Zoe is taken care off, I hike back across the parking lot and get Alli back in her car seat and head back to Randy’s to get the correct form that Malcolm needs. Traffic is getting worse as more people are getting off work. Alli dozes off which is good. She needs a nap so she is in good mood for her swim lessons. I find the proper form on the kitchen table and get back in the car and drive to the McDonalds by the high school. Malcolm is due to be out of practice in a ½ hour so I park with plans of finishing filling out his forms. Minutes later, Alli wakes up and complains she is hungry so I go ahead and get in line at the drive thru. I get Malcolm a #7 grilled with a Power Aid and Alli a cheese burger. We drive over to the high school and park and I get Alli out of her car seat and put her up front with me. I carefully scrap onions off her burger and discard one bun. I roll it up like a taco and she happily take bites and explores the front seat of my car. Right on schedule at 5:30 Malcolm comes out of practice. This is good, they are frequently late which is a hardship for me with a toddler getting bored in my car. He is thrilled to find food waiting for him. He starts eating and I start driving again after I put Alli back into her car seat. We get to the church early and sit in the parking lot while he finishes eating and we finish filling out the forms. He gets dropped at the door a tad early and I head towards Machers swim school. Today I am a bit ahead of schedule thanks to going to McDonald’s before picking him up. Usually by now I am in a total panic to get to swim lessons by 6. We arrive early and I take my time putting Alli into her swim diaper and suit. She is so cute and she knows what is coming next and starts to get excited about swimming. Daddy shows up right on time and I pass the girl to him and hit the road again to go get Zoe from basketball practice. I have to drive almost all the way back to my house to retrieve her from the ARC and then I drive all the way back past the swim school to drop her off at her Dad’s house. Zoe was in a good mood and the trip was not so bad. Then I decide to just head home. By now it is 6:30 and I am sick of driving. I think I should run some errands while I am unencumbered by a toddler, but then I think I would rather get home and empty the dishwasher and relax for a few minutes before James and Alli get home. They arrive 15 minutes after me and I put the wet stuff and a load of laundry in. We get everything done and settle so we can watch LOST at 8 pm. Alli dozes off while we are watching TV and I put her to bed around 8:30. As soon as LOST is over, I am in bed too. 9 may seem early, but I am wiped out and I am running tomorrow morning at 5:30 am.
