Mystery Solved!
Sunday afternoon, on my way home, I stopped at Break Time and got gas with my Discover card. I usually do all my purchases with my Discover card and earn my cash back reward and track all my spending, etc. I have been doing it this way for years. (I pay the balance off each month and never pay extra for the convenience.) Monday morning, I dropped Alli off at Julia & Elissa’s house and then worked all day. After work, I went by their house to pick up Alli and then I went to Michael’s on the way home to purchase a frame. At the checkout I was shocked to find my credit card was not in my pocket. Lately I have been keeping my cell phone, credit card and driver’s license in my jacket pocket. The jacket zips and it is more convenient than lugging a purse and a baby everywhere I go. So I checked out using an alternative card and started racking my brain trying to figure out where the heck I lost the card. First thing I did was call Julia and Elissa and ask them to look around. They called back and reported they had NOT found anything. I do put my jacket on and off a lot at work depending on how warm the building is. I decided it was probably on the floor under my desk so I went to sleep thinking I would find it Tuesday morning. Well, I arrived at work and it was not there. I was a bit more worried and called Discover. They can’t freeze the account while you look for your card; all they can do is cancel it. I decided to look a little harder before I did that. I made sure no one was using it and figured it would still show up soon. I was confident it was just lost, not stolen and it was probably someplace simple like under the seat in my car. I looked hard, James searched my car, I looked more, and I called the girls and requested a second search. Finally, on Wednesday afternoon, I decided it was gone for good and called to cancel it. So, now it is Thursday and Julia just called to let me know she found my card in her driveway. I guess when they looked before; the cars were parked over the card. Dang it!! So now I have a new account number and I will need to notify Zoe’s orthodontist and a bunch of other people who keep my account on file so they can charge me monthly. I have to update my Paypal and Google check account, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera (as Yul Brynner would say in The King and I).
