Only 10 more days until Christmas!!

Saturday (12-13-08) I got up and went to my favorite class at the gym, BodyPump. I have not been making it to the gym lately, instead opting to work on house projects. Besides, every time I leave Alli at the gym day care, she picks up a germ and ends up sick for the next week or two. But, this was a special occasion………the down town gym (used to be Gold’s now Key Largo) is closing for good. I understand it is because the old building is just too dangerous and is falling apart. I heard that a section of ceiling fell down and almost hit someone and also that one of the windows fell out into the alley one day. Scary stuff! So, I went and lifted for the first time in months. It was fun and I saw some of my gym friends. It was also rather anti climactic. Things are always changing and never stay the way you want them to. I have been working out at that gym for about 10 years and I have many memories associated with it. It has been a big part of my life. I will miss it. Side note; I am so sore I can barely walk!

Saturday around noon, we had quite a bit of excitement on our street. We heard some sirens (which is odd out in the country) and looked out front to see not one, but many fire trucks and emergency vehicles going by. Then they started parking in front of the house. We rushed outside to see what was going on and found that our neighbors’ house was on fire. Seems, their fireplace chimney started it. There were at least 6 fire trucks in the road, multiple police cars and even the local TV stations arrived. They were there for hours. Fortunately no one was hurt and the couple that lived there are now staying with relatives. We did not know them.

Sunday we all took advantage of the crazy warm temperatures. I did a morning run while James watched Alli. I met Terry at the trail head and we ran almost 7 miles. We ran down the trail and jogged around the deserted down town streets. For some reason I think that is really fun and on Sunday morning, there is hardly a soul to be found. As soon as I got home, around 8 a.m., James jumped on his bike and went for a long gravel ride. When he returned, we decided to hike around out behind the house. James was interested in understanding where the edges of our property are. At this point it was 60 degrees outside! Alli went along and we were taking turns carrying her for a while. Then she decided she really wanted to walk. This is unusual for her. Normally, if it is not flat, level ground, she wants nothing to do with it. Today however, she got down and “hiked” in the woods with us. She plugged along at a snail’s pace, but she worked really hard and did manage to cover some territory. She had on a dress and tights and if I had known she would be down on the ground I certainly would have dressed her more appropriately. She ended up with burrs glued to her tights but it was worth it. She had such a good time and got a lot of good practice walking. Unfortunately, I did not have my camera…….darn it.

By dinner time on Sunday, it was 19 degrees outside and sleeting. Missouri weather is crazy!

Your little girl is such a sweetheart! Have you ever googled anyones name before? I googled my cousin Ally to see which marathon she has ran in lately, and ended up on your blog. I'm glad I did; such a happy baby!
